The use of Fentanyl in Drug Testing is still Up in the Air
The Department of Health and Human Resources has not yet told Congress
if fentanyl should be added to the drug testing procedures for
transportation workers. It hasn't been added in the past because it is
usually mixed in with the drug testing procedures of heroin. Fentanyl is a
synthetic opioid that is 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine. It might
start being tested because experts say that fentanyl is starting to be used
alone, without in other substances being mixed in. Which is why just testing
fentanyl by itself is a hot topic issue. The Center for Disease Control
reports synthetic opioids are now the deadliest illicit drug used across the
country.
