Results of Brake Safety Week Announced
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance announced the results of this year’s Brake Safety Week conducted September 16th-22nd: 4.955 vehicles were placed out of service in the 35.080 highway inspections conducted across the US and Canada. The 14.1% out-of-service rate was almost identical to last year’s results. CVSA notes that brake violations were the top reason for ordering units out of service during its June 3-day Roadcheck campaign. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration points out that over the last 12 months brake-related defects accounted for 7 out of its top 20 violations.
