The FMCSA recently announced that a new program is in the works that will

survey women and minorities about the "prevalence, seriousness, and

nature" of harassment and assault in the trucking industry. The results of

the survey will not be used to create new regulations but its goal is to

create and provide programs that will address these problems. The FMCSA

believes that training and outreach for drivers and carriers could increase

the amount of women and minorities that apply to work in the trucking

industry. If these programs work and the amount of applicants for trucking

jobs increases that will help the entire trucking industry, which is currently

facing driver shortages.
