The Office of Management and Budget are currently reviewing a proposal that allows

hair testing for drugs from workers who have a job in a safety sensitive workplace.

These tests will be regulated by the US Department of Transportation. Truck drivers fall

into this category. If the OMB approves hair testing for drugs, each affected DOT office

would review and tailor procedures for their individual agency. They will do this so that

specific regulations won't face as much public scrutiny in the Federal Register. However,

we're still a long way away before any of these new rules would go into effect.
